Kelly Clarkson's ongoing dispute with New York City specialty store Art of Play has escalated further, with the store significantly upping the price of the bird toy she wanted to purchase.

Over the weekend, Kelly, 44, hit headlines after she attempted to buy a "one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton" that is "permanently attached to the wall" of the Brooklyn shop and is unavailable for purchase. As the controversy unfolded, security footage from the interaction also surfaced, showing fans what went down.

In the latest twist, the shop has raised the price tag of the toy to a whopping $15 million. An almost identical bird automaton was priced initially priced at $15,000. The chaos initially ensued when the singer called out the store on social media, claiming they gave her the "Pretty Woman" treatment and that she felt dismissed by the shop's staff.

Art of Play quickly fired back at the accusations, explaining that Kelly, 44,

The price is not the only thing that has changed for the specialty store. Adam Rubin, 43, one of the co-owners of Art of Play, told USA TODAY that his business has been under immense pressure since the American Idol winner slammed the shop in a post to her 8.8 million followers on X.

"This has been a very surreal experience," he said. The co-owner further said that the store's team was "afraid for the safety of our shopkeepers."

He stated that the store's phone and emails have been flooded with threatening messages, and their neighbors have been doxxed.

However, sales have also spiked, foot traffic has increased, and the store has made a rather unusual decision—to change the price of the bird at the center of the controversy.

"Kelly Clarkson has put us in danger," he said.

The internet remains firmly divided on who is at fault. After the release of the highly anticipated footage, fans ended up even more confused on who to side with.

One person said, "This Kelly Clarkson chick had a full blown Karen meltdown over a toy bird and then tried to destroy a small business in Brooklyn. HOLLYWOOD IS EVIL!"

Someone else added, "Okay confirmed. We see in the camera footage the owner leaning and crossing his legs whilst sipping a beverage like he has twenty better things to do than speak to Kelly Clarkson and then he moves on to other people," with another replying, "Correct, he treated her like any other person in the store. Clarkson is a b---, confirmed." A fourth critic wrote, "I’ve seen the store footage. Kelly Clarkson is an awful person and bald faced liar."

However, some people took Kelly's side. A user said, "Just wasted 30 minutes only to learn that Kelly Clarkson was in fact telling the truth lol."

"Why did everyone hype that Pablo guy up, that video didn't show much, seems Kelly Clarkson was right," another echoed.
