Carole Radziwill said on the October 13 episode of The Real Housewives of New York City that she was once set up on a date with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew.
The two went to dinner in late 1999, just months after the death of her husband, Anthony Radziwill, that August.
Carole described the encounter in one cutting word—“unmemorable.”
On the latest episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, Carole Radziwill spoke about once being set up with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor—the man formerly known as Prince Andrew.
Their shared dinner was “unmemorable,” the journalist said on the show (per People). They were set up by none other than Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking minors with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019.

On the October 13 episode of the show, Radziwill told her castmates that, while she was “friendly” with Maxwell, she “never met” Epstein. Radziwill and Maxwell eventually “drifted apart,” she continued, but not before a date with the former Duke of York was arranged.

“I was in London, and it was right after my husband [Anthony Radziwill] passed away, so it was, like, December—it was the holidays,” Carole said. Anthony and Carole were married from 1994 until his death in August 1999, just weeks after Anthony’s cousin and best friend John F. Kennedy Jr. died in a July 16, 1999 plane crash with his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, and her sister, Lauren Bessette.
Radziwill recalled, “Our mutual friend told [Maxwell] that, ‘Oh, you know, Carole’s husband just passed away. She’s in London by herself.’”

“And so I get a call, and she said, ‘This is Ghislaine Maxwell,’” Carole continued. “‘I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. Let me have my friends take you out to dinner.’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no, I don’t really…I’m good. Thank you so much.’”

But Maxwell was “kind of insistent,” so Carole “gave in,” she said. “I was like, ‘Okay.’ And I would say, a half an hour later, maybe even less, I get a call on my little Nokia phone from the Duke of York. Prince Andrew.”
When pressed for details—including if they’d “made out”—Carole said that she and Andrew “went to dinner, and that was it. It was kind of unmemorable.”
Of Maxwell, Carole added, “I knew, probably all along, that she would not ever be interested in Carole DiFalco [her maiden name]. But she was very interested in Carole Radziwill. She was, like, a social climber, so if you had money, access to money, power, or, say, a very famous last name, she made it her business to know you.”

Andrew, for his part, was stripped of all royal titles and privileges by his brother King Charles in October 2025 because of his connection to Epstein. In February—on his 66th birthday, no less—Andrew was arrested from his home on suspicion of misconduct in public office, stemming from his time as a U.K. trade envoy. While Andrew vigorously denies all accusations, an investigation remains ongoing. On October 8, Andrew scored a legal victory when it was agreed that search warrants that allowed police to raid both his current home, Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, and his former home, Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, were unlawful.
