Carrabba reposted a clip from Swift's interview on X (formerly Twitter) to say, "Swift has been "so kind to me over the years."
"To hear her express how my songs affected her was a lovely surprise," he continued, while adding, "Everything is connected. I feel fortunate to be a link in the chain."

During the interview, Swift stated, "I was the most intensely impacted by emo music," before name-dropping Carrabba and other emo rock stars, like Fall Out Boy's bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz.
Swift went on to praise "how they take a common phrase and then they just twist the knife of it." She quoted some of the lyrics of Fall Out Boy's "Sugar, We're Going Down" and Dashboard Confessional's "Hand's Down," as examples.
