March 3 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs' departing top lawyer, Kathryn Ruemmler, will testify before the ‌U.S. House Oversight Committee, her spokesperson said ‌on Tuesday, after having resigned over links to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Documents recently released by the U.S. Justice Department showed Ruemmler accepted gifts from Epstein and advised him on handling media inquiries about ‌his crimes.

"Ruemmler welcomes the opportunity to appear before the committee," the spokesperson, Jennifer Connelly, said in a statement.

"She has done nothing wrong and had no knowledge of any ongoing criminal activity on his part."

Ruemmler was a practicing criminal defence attorney at the ‌time of her interactions with Epstein, and shared a client with him, Connelly added.

In February, David Solomon, the chief executive of Goldman Sachs, said Ruemmler had resigned from the role of ‌chief legal officer. Ruemmler said in a separate statement she would leave the firm in June.

The departure of Ruemmler, ‌once among the top executive officers of the Wall Street firm, is the most high-profile banking exit after the DoJ's latest release of Epstein ‌documents.
