During an October 9 comedy show in Chicago, Jerry Seinfeld was interrupted by pro-Palestinian activists. One of them yelled, āSeinfeld, you will see, Palestine will be free,ā followed by another who shouted, āIāve had enough of genocide.ā
Seinfeld, 72, responded by breaking into a dance on stage before uttering:
āI am a racist. It's a genocide, I'm into it. I'm gonna find out how much your ticket was and I'm sending it to Israel. No, I wonāt; Iām keeping it.ā
Video from the incident showed one of the activists being escorted out of the venue, with audience members adding, āRough her up!ā and āGet the f**k outta here.ā The whole thing has now sparked backlash. Lebanese-American award-winning author and activist Dana Dargos reacted to the incident by writing on Threads:

The Jewish actor-comedian, who played a fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom Seinfeld, has been a longtime and vocal supporter of Israel amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.

In October 2023, shortly after Hamas attacked Israel, Jerry Seinfeld took to his Instagram and wrote that his heart was ābreakingā for the victims of the āatrocities.ā He continued:
āBut we are also a very strong people in our hearts and minds. We believe in justice, freedom and equality. We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.ā
Two months later, Seinfeld visited Tel Aviv, Israel, in solidarity and later claimed it was āthe most powerful experience of my lifeā during an appearance on the Honestly with Bari Weiss podcast.
Over the years, Jerry has clashed with pro-Palestinian supporters and activists. During a commencement speech at Duke University in North Carolina in 2024, nearly 30 students left the venue as Seinfeld entered the stage.

āA lot of you are thinking, āI canāt believe they invited this guy.ā Too late. I will defend what I believe in. I say, use your privilege. I grew up a Jewish boy from New York. That is a privilege if you want to be a comedian,ā he stated.
In September 2025, Seinfeld reappeared at the university unannounced to introduce Israeli man Omer Shem Tov, an Israeli who was taken hostage from the Nova music festival in Israel on October 7, 2023. The billionaire also used the event to denounce the Palestinian movement as āantisemiticā and compared it to the Ku Klux Klan.
āFree Palestine is, to me, just⦠youāre free to say you donāt like Jews. Just say you donāt like Jews. By saying āFree Palestineā, youāre not admitting what you really think. So, itās actually compared to the Ku Klux Klan; Iām actually thinking the Klan is actually a little better here, because they can come right out and say, āWe donāt like Blacks, we donāt like Jews.ā Okay, thatās honest.ā
Jerry Seinfeld also responded to a protester at his show in Australia in 2024 after he was accused of being a āgenocide supporter.ā The comedian replied:
āWe have a genius, ladies and gentlemen. Heās solved the Middle East. Heās solved it! Itās the Jewish comedians; thatās who we have to get. Wow, you're doing great. You're getting them on your side. Can you hear it? It's working. You have strong political feelings, but you don't know where to say them. You think that ruining the night, it doesn't affect me. All these people, you're ruining their night.ā
Last year, Jerry Seinfeld went viral after influencer Subway DJ approached him outside the Radio City Music Hall following the SNL 50th anniversary celebration. After the influencer made the peace sign using his fingers and uttered āFree Palestine,ā Seinfeld replied:
āI don't care about Palestine.ā
He also told GQ during an interview:
āI donāt preach about [the war]. I have my personal feelings about it that I discuss privately. Itās not part of what I can do comedically, but my feelings are very strong.ā
In June 2026, the Brooklyn native was leaving Madison Square Garden when another content creator asked him:
āWhat up, Seinfeld? Can we get a free Palestine?ā
Jerry Seinfeld laughed and said, āIt doesnāt exist,ā before walking away.
The observational stand-up comedian is currently on tour across the United States, which will continue until January 2027.
