Jim Nantz believes there's no question Tony Romo will work again.

Following a July arrest for OWI, Tony Romo's status with CBS was in limbo. After months of uncertainty, the network made its decision Oct. 2, officially parting ways with the analyst.

When Romo was in the booth for CBS, he was paired up with Jim Nantz. On Wednesday, Nantz spoke for the first time about his reaction to the news that CBS and Romo parted ways, telling "The Traina Thoughts Podcast" that Romo will get through this.

Nantz's comments read:

"My first thought, of course, was just to see how Tony was doing, just as a friend, to make sure he was doing alright. And I feel good about that right now.

"You saw his statement. I think he was very open-hearted in that statement and I know the support system he has at home. And I look forward to Tony coming through this. And he will."

Nantz also clarified he had nothing to do with the decision.

When asked whether he believes Romo will work again as an analyst, Nantz said, "Unquestionably." Nantz said he wasn't sure whether Romo would call games again or take on a studio role, but added that the former quarterback has "got a lot of talent."

Nantz also spoke positively about his new partner in the broadcast booth, former NFL star J.J. Watt. Nantz said he didn't want his comments to come off as a comparison of both men. He then spoke very highly of Watt's preparation for each game.

Following a 13-year playing career, Romo retired following the 2016 NFL season and became a broadcaster. He was immediately paired with Nantz on the top team at CBS. The pair worked together until this summer, when Romo was placed on leave following his arrest.
