Ken Marino plays a quirky, dedicated PEOPLE photographer in Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass

Marino's Vincent, an intrepid PEOPLE photojournalist, collides with Gail and her motley crew on their expedition to find Jon Hamm — to fulfill her one "free pass" to hook up with her celebrity crush

The film, which also stars Jon Hamm and John Slattery as themselves, debuts in theaters on July 10

Ken Marino is a passionate part of the PEOPLE team in Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass.

The comedy film starring Zoey Deutch, Jon Hamm and John Slattery meets Kansas local Gail (Deutch), who is all set to marry her fiancé (Michael Cassidy) — until she discovers he got the chance to hook up with his celebrity "free pass." In order to balance the scales, Gail embarks on a mission to hunt down her own celebrity crush.

In a clip of the film that PEOPLE can exclusively reveal, Marino takes on the role of a hungry photographer for PEOPLE, totally committed to snapping the perfect photo for the publication.

Gail and her trusty sidekicks' escapades force them to find an impromptu hiding spot — a skinny tree is better than nothing, after all. But soon they discover an intrepid photojournalist, Vincent (Marino), has already staked out the spot for himself.

"Hey!" Vincent whisper-shouts. "This is my goddamn tree! Find your own goddamn tree!"

After letting out a startled yelp, Gail yells in reply, "Who are you?"

Cue the photographer's backstory, which sees Vincent confidently strutting the halls of PEOPLE's office, camera in hand. "I was a wet-behind-the-ears beat photographer at PEOPLE Magazine," Marino's character says. "I was the new kid on the block, but I was good."

Vincent bragged about crawling beneath cars and inside massive dumpsters to get the perfect shots. His repertoire includes "Spears spelunking" and "Lohan lounging," among countless others, he says.

"Around the office, they called me 'Mr. Always Gets His Shot Even When It's a Hard Shot to Get,' " the zesty photographer says, noting the moniker is "a mouthful, but it was an accurate description."

The film stars Hamm and Slattery as themselves, plus a cast including Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Otto and Ben Wang as Caleb.

Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass debuts in theaters on July 10.
