The pair star as Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff in director Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel. The story is known to be famous for its all-consuming, destructive romance.

One insider close to the production reportedly claimed the strategy was deliberate from the beginning. “From the outset, the strategy was to blur the lines between fiction and reality,” the source alleged. They added that the marketing team made a “conscious decision to amplify” the actors’ on-screen intensity in real life.

According to the insider, the lingering looks, effusive compliments, and repeated references to “obsession” in interviews were not “accidental” but part of a coordinated effort to “make their connection feel palpable and irresistible.” Elordi fueled speculation in a recent interview when he said of Robbie, “We have a mutual obsession. Ackerley also served as a producer on the film.
