Taylor then explained that her childhood in a religious Utah community played a big part in her hesitation to accept her sexuality.

"Growing up, I didn’t fit in for a lot of reasons in my childhood," Taylor told Shetty. "I grew up in a very predominantly white area, and being a little Black girl, I already stood out so much to my peers and took that on a lot more than I feel like I realized."

She continued, "I always had these thoughts and I kind of laugh about it now, because I would be watching shows like* Pretty Little Liars* and I would watch, like, Shay Mitchell kissing a girl. I was like, ‘Wait, why is that hot?'"

Taylor said things began to change as she saw more and more "queer representation" around her and realized what her feelings meant.

The couple finalized their divorce in 2025, and Taylor went on to date Cameron Jolly — who appeared on season 2 of *Mormon Wives — *and then Mason McWhorter, from whom she split in February. Taylor said it was the end of that relationship that inspired her to further explore her sexuality.

The *Mormon Wives* star, who joined the show in its first season as a newly divorced single mother of two, additionally confirmed that the podcast appearance may be how her costars find out about her sexuality. Because at the time of recording, Taylor had not yet told "a lot of people" in her life, including loved ones, friends, and her costars.

"We’ve been — not in a bad place [with] any of us girls. [But] I know that there’s some friendships that are in different places than they have been in the past," she teased. "I think right now we’ve just been kind of a little separate since just going on that pause from filming. So we just haven’t seen any of them in person."

She added, "I feel like me coming out, it’s not really a text. I feel like I want to see them in person to let them know. So they might see this before and then I’ll talk to them in person the next time I see them. But yeah, for right now, no one from the group knows.”

All of that said, Taylor added, "I'm very proud to be bi, and I'm very proud now to be out. And I hope that if anyone's in a situation that I am as well, that, for a long time there, I didn't know if I could come out and truly be myself. I hope that they can feel safe to do so and proud to do so."
