(WKBN) — Officials with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission Friday released a performance audit showing that unpaid toll collections continue to be a challenge.
The commission says it is still owed $229 million in tolls from last year and that new methods need to be found to collect the tolls.
There are also challenges in raising the money needed to pay the commission’s debt and for capital contributions.

Also, travelers are feeling burdened with yearly toll increases — and that will continue through 2055.
