Jordan's Princess Iman has given birth to twin baby girls, the Royal Hashemite Court confirmed yesterday.
The 29-year-old princess, who is King Abdullah II's eldest daughter, gave birth on Friday, August 14 2026.
The court's official statement read: "The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce that Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II and Mr. Jameel Alexander Thermiotis were blessed, on 14 August 2026, with twin baby girls."
The arrival of twins came as a surprise to many, as the family had deliberately kept the detail under wraps throughout the pregnancy.

Although Queen Rania, 55, had previously revealed her daughter was expecting, the fact that two babies were on the way remained a closely guarded secret until the birth itself.
Iman, the second of King Abdullah and Queen Rania's four children, wed Thermiotis, a Greek-Venezuelan businessman now aged 32, on March 12 2023.
Their first daughter, Amina, was born on February 16 2025, making the newborn twins the couple's second and third children.
It was Queen Rania who first shared news of the pregnancy on social media, posting a photograph of Jameel cradling Amina as the toddler reached towards her mother's bump.

"The grandchildren club is growing, and we couldn't be happier for Iman, Jameel and soon-to-be big sister Amina," the queen wrote in English.

Her Arabic caption struck a more prayerful tone: "A new joy on the way... Congratulations to Iman, Jameel and my beloved Amina who is going to be a big sister. May Allah keep you safe and sound, Lord."
Beyond Iman, King Abdullah, 64, and Queen Rania have three other children: Crown Prince Hussein, 32, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem. The latter two remain unmarried.
Crown Prince Hussein wed Princess Rajwa in July 2023, and the couple welcomed a daughter, Princess Iman, in August 2024, a child who shares her name with her aunt.
Despite their proximity to the throne, neither Amina, the newborn twins, nor baby Princess Iman will enter Jordan's line of succession.
The Hashemite Kingdom's constitution reserves the crown exclusively for male descendants of King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein's dynasty.
Article 28 stipulates: "The Royal title shall pass from the holder of the Throne to his eldest son, then to the eldest son of that eldest son, and in linear succession in a similar process thereafter."
The arrival of twins in a royal household is a relatively uncommon occurrence, though Iman's daughters join a small but notable club.
Monaco's Prince Albert and Princess Charlene have 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, whilst King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are parents to Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 15.
