Rob Lowe shed his pretty-boy image for his latest role in the upcoming film Confession, which will be released theatrically next month. Lowe, 62, caught many by surprise after the preview clip for Confession hit social media on Tuesday, October 13, because of the Hollywood actor's appearance in the role. The Outsiders star appeared weathered in the teaser snippet, wearing a dingy white tank top and sweating profusely, with his hair very disheveled. Lowe's latest on-screen character was vastly different from his polished real-life appearance. Acting alongside Lowe in the Confession preview was James Franco, 48, who made a red carpet comeback in 2024 after allegations of "inappropriate behavior."

The forthcoming Ben Shapiro production received mixed reactions on social media, with several people commenting on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Holy f--k, how is this real? How did they get these actors?" one asked, as another quipped, "This looks like a student film."

A third commented, "LOL, Rob Lowe is desperate," while one other teased, "Do these people not realize they attach themselves to political ideologies by doing this? Even if they don't believe in it, they now are attached to it forever. What exactly are their agents telling them?"

There was one who also penned, "Why would Rob Lowe participate in this," as someone else shared, "Rob Lowe, what are you doing???"

Rob is starring alongside James Franco, who has faced public sexual misconduct allegations brought forth by former students of his former Studio 4 Acting School. The class-action lawsuit was settled, and while the actor denied allegations made against him, he did publicly state that he often engaged in sexual activity with his students.

Lowe's new movie comes in the wake of the death of his brother, Chad Lowe's daughter Fiona, who died by suicide at the age of 13 earlier this month. The Lowe family confirmed the saddening news in a statement, saying, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."

Fiona was cherished by her parents and siblings, who described her as "the light of our lives" in their statement. Following her death, the Lowe family shared that her passing left their family shattered, as they requested prayers and privacy during this difficult period of mourning.
