A member of one of the wealthiest royal families in the world was discovered unconscious on a bustling London street following a cocaine binge, while she was supposed to be supervising a toddler.

Mahrah Al Nahyan, 32, was found slumped against railings in West London next to an unconscious man, as the barefoot three-year-old played nearby with a scooter, a court was told. Al Nahyan, who had been using cocaine in the days leading up to the incident, remained unconscious for approximately 30 minutes, prosecutors informed Southwark Crown Court.

Concerned members of the public raised the alarm after noticing the unsupervised child dangerously close to moving traffic on June 13 of this year. This comes after country singer Billy Don Burns was hospitalized after going on a self-destructive alcohol and drug binge and stabbing himself.

The toddler was placed in the care of worried bystanders until law enforcement arrived at the scene at around 1:50 pm.

Prosecutor Rio Pahlavanpour told the court that members of the public had stepped in because the toddler was barefoot and appeared to be at risk, as reported by The Times.

He stated, "They noticed the child was unattended, without shoes on the street with a scooter and members of the public intervened as he seemed to be in close proximity to moving traffic."

Video footage captured by a bystander showed Al Nahyan slumped against the railings, her head bowed and arms crossed. A toy plane lay on the ground beside her, as the young child played in the vicinity.

An unconscious man was also visible, lying on his back in a nearby doorway. When Al Nahyan finally regained consciousness, she reportedly acted in an unstable manner and yelled at those present, "This is not a slaughterhouse; why do you care so much? Why are you so worried?"

Authorities found drug-related equipment in her bags, though no illegal drugs were discovered, the court was told.

Al Nahyan, who has ties through marriage to Abu Dhabi's ruling royal family, pleaded guilty to one count of child neglect.

Her defense attorney, Stephen Vullo KC, explained she had not consumed any illicit drugs on the day of the incident but was severely fatigued after using cocaine previously. He informed the court she had been undergoing treatment for drug dependency at the Priory center in Woking, Surrey, since July.

Vullo stated his client had remained drug-free since beginning treatment and had demonstrated "significant remorse and resolve to overcome her addiction."

She planned to finish a three-month program before relocating to the Guildford area, where she intended to continue treatment as an outpatient and participate in Narcotics Anonymous sessions.

He stated, "She made a grave mistake that day and she knows it."

During sentencing, Mr Justice Johnson KC criticized Al Nahyan's disregard for the child's safety. The judge stated, "By leaving [the child] to play barefoot in the street while under the influence of drugs, you showed a recklessness and disregard for [the child's] safety."

He recounted how the toddler had darted toward the road while chasing a piece of paper, only to be stopped by a passerby. The judge cautioned that, had it not been for the intervention of strangers, the child could have sustained serious injury or worse.

He further noted that the toddler could have wandered away, become lost, been abducted, been harmed by a stranger, or become distressed at seeing Al Nahyan and her companion unconscious.

Al Nahyan received a two-year community order with a rehabilitation requirement. She was additionally fined £5,000 ($6,625) and ordered to pay £1,000 ($1,325) in prosecution costs. The court was informed that she receives a monthly allowance of £8,000 ($10,601).

Her family is part of the influential Abu Dhabi ruling dynasty, whose wealth is estimated to exceed £250 billion ($331 billion) and whose reach spans global investments and the United Arab Emirates' extensive oil resources.
