Sabrina Carpenter is sending off 2025 as so many of us do, with a year-end recap of the highsâand lowsâof the past 12 months.
While the singer experienced an explosive year career-wise, most photos of which required no explanation, she did have at least one unfortunate downfall when she accidentally set fire to her own house.
The "Please, Please, Please" songstress shared a large collection of snapshots to her Instagram Story on New Year's Eve, from her internet-breaking collaboration with Dolly Parton to her time hosting Saturday Night Live to her sold-out set of shows at Madison Square Garden, and everything that fell in between, and it's clear that it was a pretty successful year for the popstarâeven without the charts and massive tour to prove it.
However, tucked amid all of her celebratory pictures was one showing a scorched countertop and ash-covered mirror, with an explanatory caption that admitted she "set my bathroom on fire by accident đ€."
Fans on X begged for more details, with one joking that it went "From cozy to arson in 0.2 seconds."
While there was no more information provided, a discolored red glass next to the scorch mark appeared to contain candle wax, suggesting that it may have been involved in the near-disaster.

She's not the only mega star to nearly burn down her house, taking after her mentor Taylor Swift's footsteps in ways that they both probably would rather she not.
The Eras Tour artist accidentally set fire to her own kitchen last summer while enjoying a night of songwriting with Gracie Abrams. While working elsewhere in her New York City residence, the two hear a distant noise that was initially blamed on one of their feline friends, Meredith, Olivia, or Benji.
While that was likely a correct assumption, the sound involved a candle being knocked over, igniting a small blaze on top of her kitchen counter. It's unclear how long it took them to realize, nor do we know the extent of the damage, but the younger artist dubbed Swift a "legend" for the way she jumped into action and extinguished the blazeâeven though the fumes from the fire extinguisher left them with âan insane coughâ for several weeks.
In a video uploaded later, Swift could be seen struggling with the extinguisher, with a candle positioned on a raised platform on her beautiful kitchen island completely engulfed in flames.
âI think weâre going to die,â Swift said dramatically as she continued to try to activate the extinguisher. Finally, she dislodged the pin, and the stream of the extinguisher was so violent that she sent the candle crashing to the floor.
âOur purses are ruined. And my shoes. And the whole room, I think,â Swift said as the fumes began to settle, before Benji stuck his head in to check out the commotion.
Britney Spears also once nearly "burnt the gym down" in her own home, all thanks to a candle. The room was out of commission for months, leaving her to have to come up with some alternative workouts, as the photo she once shared showed soot-covered equipment, a melted speaker or storage chest, and a melted and shattered mirror.
Perhaps in 2026, celebrities should leave the candles behind.
