Shia LaBeouf has been arrested again in New Orleans.

The actor, who was previously arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery after a Feb. 17 altercation outside a New Orleans bar, was taken into custody Saturday and charged with one additional misdemeanor count of simple battery, reports the Associated Press.

In a statement to the outlet, LaBeouf's attorney said his latest arrest was connected to the Feb. 17 incident, adding that when New Orleans police issued a new arrest warrant on Friday, LaBeouf voluntarily turned himself in to the Orleans Parish jail the following day.

"No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed two separate times for one misdemeanor incident," said LaBeouf's attorney, Sarah Chervinsky. "Just as he does not deserve preferential treatment, Mr. LaBeouf also does not deserve to be treated more harshly by the police and courts just because he is a public figure."

LaBeouf posted a bond of $5,000 and has since been released from police custody.

Representatives for LaBeouf and the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to **'s request for comment.

LaBeouf, who has discussed embracing sobriety in recent years, has a history of alcohol-related arrests. His most recent legal troubles began with a brawl outside the Royal Street Inn & R Bar during last month's Mardi Gras celebrations, police reported. Authorities told EW that officers were called to the scene just after midnight on Feb. 17 after LaBeouf was ejected from the establishment for alleged aggressive behavior that was causing a disturbance. Per the police, one of the two men involved in the incident reported to authorities that once they were outside, LaBeouf struck them several times with his closed fists. The other claimed that the actor punched him in the nose.

According to police, several onlookers stepped in to subdue LaBeouf until officers arrived on the scene to arrest the actor.

At his Thursday hearing, LaBeouf was ordered to check into rehab, with the judge mandating that he enroll in treatment for substance abuse, undergo drug tests, and post a bond of $100,000 in order to be released, PEOPLE reported.

Days later, LaBeouf spoke to Channel 5's Andrew Callaghan about the Feb. 17 incident, sharing his side of the story and insisting that rehab was not necessary for him.

"My behavior… I gotta deal with that. Does that mean I gotta go to rehab again? I'm just not into it, bro," the *Transformers* actor said in the interview. "I don't think my answers are there. I don't. I really, genuinely, don't. If I genuinely did, I'd go. I don't think I have a drinking problem."

LaBeouf went on to claim that he struggles instead with a Napoleon complex. "I think I have a different problem, and I'm gonna address it," he said. "I think I have a small-man complex." He added that he thinks his issues stem more from "anger and ego" than from drinking.

As for the Feb. 17 altercation in New Orleans, LaBeouf claimed that he became violent after three men touched his leg. "I'll be honest with you: Big gay people are scary to me," he said. "When I'm, like, standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I'm sorry. If that's homophobic, then I'm that."

The *Honey Boy* actor then acknowledged that he should not have gotten physical. "I am wrong for touching anyone ever," he said, "and that's the end of my statement on this whole shit."

A day before his Feb. 17 arrest, a *Hollywood Reporter *story* *said employees at several New Orleans businesses claimed that LaBeouf had been frequenting various drinking establishments in the city's Uptown neighborhood as part of an apparent bar crawl that began on Thursday. One bouncer claimed LaBeouf was "inebriated" and "somewhat belligerent," though other employees reported that they had witnessed no incidents or disruption while he was there.
