Star Wars: Starfighter & Ahsoka Season 2 Get Exciting Teaser Trailers

Two big Star Wars updates occurred at Disney’s D23 convention this weekend, including big updates to both Star Wars: Starfighter and Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2.

At D23, Disney finally showed off the highly anticipated Starfighter, which stars Ryan Gosling and is directed by Shawn Levy. The movie will be the first Star Wars project to take place after the events of Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker, and now we know some of what to expect in the movie.

Starfighter will follow the story of a pilot named Kade (Gosling), who is revealed in new footage shown off. In it, Flynn Gray’s character uncovers what looks to be a speeder of some sorts from a rundown garage, and Gosling’s Kade can be heard telling him to not touch anything, before revealing it’s a “decommissioned G17, the fastest straighter ever built.”

Little is known about Starfighter in terms of plot, but with the first teaser trailer having been shown off, we’ll likely see more of it soon ahead of the film’s May 28, 2027 release date.

Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 trailer highlights Ahsoka and Anakin’s relationship

Alongside Starfighter’s new information, Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 also got a new trailer. In it, we see more of Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) and Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) relationship. We also get a new look at General Thrawn, who still is trying to uphold his oath to protect the Empire.

The first season of Ahsoka debuted in August 2023, and a second season was planned almost immediately after, but Disney and Lucasfilm have significantly slowed production on several Star Wars shows, resulting in the longer wait.

Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the series. Rory McCann (Game of Thrones) is also set to take over the role of Baylan Skoll, a role previously played by the late Ray Stevenson, who passed away shortly after filming his parts.

It’s unclear who else will be returning for the series, but Season 1 did feature a star-studded cast that included Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, Eman Esfandi, Evan Whitten, Genevieve O’Reilly and Lars Mikkelsen.

Ahsoka was written and executive produced by Dave Filoni, best known for his work on fan-favorite Star Wars animated shows The Clone Wars and Rebels. Set within the same timeline as The Mandalorian, Season 1 revolved around the titular Jedi’s quest across the galaxy as she investigates an emerging threat following the fall of the Empire.
