The fourth episode of “Survivor 51” aired Wednesday, Oct. 14, and another twist had Carter Krull navigating a new tribe and forging a new partnership.
Here's how it unfolded for the northwest Iowa native. Spoilers ahead.
What happened to Carter Krull in 'Survivor 51' Episode 4?
The episode opened with the fallout from Carter and Lewis Kelly turning against Brady Booker at Tribal Council. Brady was mad that the two went against his wishes and voted out Patt Cannaday.
Before the Toka tribe could resolve its tensions, all the tribes were summoned by boat to another beach, where host Jeff Probst instructed the players to draw new buffs and join new tribes, essentially starting a new game. With the numbers uneven following Rob Antonson's voluntary exit in the previous episode, the players were divided into two tribes of six and one tribe of five.
The tribe swap places Carter on the new Toka tribe with:
Mike Pinsky
Brady Booker
Kristin Flickinger
An 'Thien An' Nguyen
Maggie Nestor

Toka and the Savu tribe return to their established camps, while the Dina has to start over with only basic supplies. Back at camp, the new Toka members get reacquainted, with several having previously been aligned together.
The viewer then gets testimonials from Kristin wanting to repair her relationship with Carter, but he doesn't seem to buy it.
"I think Kristin got to this beach, saw she was outnumbered, and now she is trying to pat me like a baby," Carter said. "She knows that she went against me. She knows she's outnumbered. She's starting to work me a little bit, but I don't trust her anymore."
Carter, instead, is intent on working with his new ally, Thien An, who says, "She might be the best number one I could ever ask for."
Thien An voices her distrust of Mike, while Carter identifies Kristin as his top target. By the end of the conversation, Carter and Thien An appear to have formed a close strategic partnership.
"Carter is somebody who's stable that I can trust," Thien An said. "And he is a good friend to have out here because you need somebody you can count on no matter what."
