Heading into the Love Is Blind pods, 33-year-old portfolio analyst Malaine Thorpe revealed, “My biggest fear when it comes to love is being with someone who is attracted to me but doesn’t really like who I am as a person.” After getting caught in a love triangle between Wilson Monteiro and Cam Halloran, she left the pods without meeting either of them face-to-face.

During Season 11 of Love Is Blind, viewers met Malaine, a self-described “go-getter” that Netflix calls an “ambitious baddie.” With her being a homeowner and landlord, a certified personal trainer, and a cancer survivor, we have to agree with the streamer’s assessment. Malaine stars on Season 11 of Love Is Blind, which features contestants from the Boston area. Along with sharing that her relationship role models are Barack and Michelle Obama, she explained, “I do believe I am pretty incredible. Not just because of the things that I’ve been through, but I work really hard to be who I am, and I just wanna be with someone who accepts me for who I am.”

In the pods, Malaine also revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer at 24 years old. Luckily, she’s been cancer-free ever since. As she put it, “It doesn’t define who I am, but it’s a really significant part of my story as well.”

During Episode 1, Malaine instantly connected with Cam Halloran over their shared love for Afrobeats. In chatting with Cam, she also learned that his mom is a cancer survivor, just like her. By Episode 2, Malaine had also connected with Wilson Monteiro, whom she bonded with over their love of Dunkin.

Comparing her two connections, Malaine shared, “Cam is more fun. He’s easy to talk to. I think that’s a good potential husband. And then, Wilson and I have a lot in common. His relationship with his family is very similar to mine, and it just feels like I’ve known him for a long time.”

Why did Cam break up with Malaine?

In Episode 3, Cam confronted Malaine about her close friendship with his other connection, Aneha Singh. As it turns out, everyone in the pods got a little too chatty about who they were talking to in the Men’s and Women’s Quarters, because he knew she was talking to Wilson as well, who was one of his best friends in the experiment. This led Malaine to admit to Cam, “If I’m being honest, I feel like I have the strongest connection with you.”

When Cam found out that all her eggs were in his basket, he decided to break things off and told her, “I love Wilson.” After getting quiet, Cam confessed, “I think I want to explore that other connection. Honestly, didn’t think it was gonna be this hard. You’re both amazing people.” When Malaine asked if he was breaking up with her, he responded with a broken, “Yeah.”

Why did Malaine leave the pods early?

After Cam broke things off with her, Malaine explained, “Cam was my #1, but he has a stronger connection with Aneha, and maybe that’s a better match.” Once she got back to the Women’s Quarters, Malaine told Aneha, “I just had my date with Cam. He’s breaking up with me for you… I’m just glad that you guys have each other.”

After telling Aneha about her and Cam’s split, Malaine told the group, “I think I’m just gonna go home.” So, what happened to her connection with Wilson?

As Malaine put it, “I’m definitely disappointed to be leaving here alone, but with Wilson, I just don’t feel like it’s strong enough for a marriage.” When production asked, “Why ghost him?” Malaine responded, “Why ghost him? I didn’t want to. But I think it’s just easier just to not say anything.”
